Knowledge, practices and precaution regarding COVID-19 among the residents of Kolkata city, West Bengal, India

Background: Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been declared a global public health emergency affecting thousands of people across the world. The knowledge, attitude and practice related to transmission prevention COVID-19 are regarded as most critical effective control measures. Therefore, purpose this study was assess knowledge of, along with precautionary practices adopted by city Kolkata, capital West Bengal.Methods: A cross-sectional survey conducted interview method through telephone conversation-based from July October 2020. responses (n=321) were collected using non-random convenience sampling method. All data analysed SPSS software (Ver. 27).Results: total 321 participants included in present study. Gender, education, occupation-wise, statistically significant mean practices, overall score differences found (p<0.001 <0.05). People without literacy had lesser (35.1%) fewer preventive measures (32.4%). This section also scored lower scores (48.6%) than others.
